musicFIRST Welcomes New Head of NAB

Washington, D.C., September 18, 2009 - The musicFIRST Coalition issued the following statement today in reaction to reports that former U.S. Senator Gordon Smith has been selected to lead the National Association of Broadcasters. The statement may be attributed to Jennifer Bendall, executive director of musicFIRST.
"musicFIRST congratulates former Senator Gordon Smith for being named the new head of the National Association of Broadcasters. During his years in the Senate he was a champion of the rights of artists and creators. We extend not only our congratulations but our invitation to Senator Smith to work with the music community to create a radio performance right that is fair to artists and musicians, fair to other music platforms and fair to radio."
